The assignment has been completed. We, at Dutch Tourism, have completed the assignment of the Noord-Holland Noord Development Company with the aim of attracting more tourists to the region, and involving entrepreneurs from the region in this. The new tourist concept that we have created is called 'Tour de NHN'. Cyclists and walkers can follow various routes throughout North Holland North. The routes have been developed together with entrepreneurs in the catering industry, accommodation recreation, visitors and residents of the region. The number of routes will be expanded over time.
We also developed 'Experience above Amsterdam' last year, whereby we offer various packages within the region in collaboration with entrepreneurs. Our region has suffered quite a bit from the consequences of corona. In any case, we did not sit still and took a close look at the already developed arrangements, made them better and also added new activities on the 'Experience above Amsterdam' site. In addition, we have been working on a new tourist concept 'Tour de NHN'. Through these walking and cycling routes, you really get to know the region and you see places that normally remain hidden. We, with all the tourist entrepreneurs in the region and the new tourist offer, are ready to receive guests within the region as soon as possible.
Tour de NHN consists of a number of walking and cycling routes. Routes have been and will be set out from Den Helder to Castricum. Cyclists and walkers can add activities (also called Detours) as desired, such as visiting a museum, booking a B&B or having lunch somewhere. Visiting iconic places, seeing special views, viewing historic towns and villages and making use of the catering and accommodation facilities, it is all possible on the routes. The windmills in the region and Ode aan het Landschap have also been included in the program as much as possible. People can completely personalize their tour via the Holland above Amsterdam site.
With this initiative, we have connected no fewer than 150 entrepreneurs from the Noord-Holland Noord region. For each route, approximately five entrepreneurs are involved in the (optional) activities. Participation is free of charge for these entrepreneurs and the destination marketing organization Holland above Amsterdam does not charge a fee for the bookings that are made.
In addition to the entrepreneurs, residents and visitors to the region also play an important role in compiling the stages. Anyone can pass on recommendations, or Detours, regarding the routes. We really want to encourage people to explore and get to know the region. For this, we have created the 'Detours'. These are recommendations and tips from entrepreneurs, residents and tourists about well-known and lesser-known places that are worth seeing or experiencing.
