It's a wrap! The Dutch Tourism Group has completed the assignment from the Province of Noord-Holland and launched the platform Boekenbovenamsterdam.nl, including the concepts Picnic Tour and Knapzakwandeling. Our new (corona-proof) packages and tours can be booked here. For this assignment, we have joined forces of various tourist entrepreneurs and we jointly offer packages and tours through the initiative "Experience above Amsterdam".
The tourism sector has had a very difficult time in recent months. Fewer foreign tourists are coming to the Netherlands and the increasing domestic tourism is unfortunately not fully able to compensate for the falling turnover. Recently published figures from Statistics Netherlands show that in June 50% fewer guests were received at tourist accommodations compared to 2019. Noord-Holland and Amsterdam in particular were hit by the corona crisis.
We have made a virtue of necessity and sought out enterprising players to see how we could realize a tourist offer appropriate to this time. In about 10 weeks we have put together a range of activities and tours that meet the guidelines and advice of the RIVM. We have drawn up an action plan for this and involved various entrepreneurs from the region. In addition, municipalities from the Noord-Holland Noord region support our initiative.
The goals of the destination marketing organization Holland above Amsterdam are to attract more tourists to the region, who stay longer and spend more. The distribution of visitors across the region is now more than ever an important point of attention. The packages we have developed are: Rondje Regio, Floating and Slobberen, Knapsack Walk, Picnic Tour and Supp Day. Within various regions, such as Den Helder, Enkhuizen, Hoorn, Langedijk and Medemblik, it will be possible to book the packages via the website: https://www.boekenbovenamsterdam.nl
Take the Picnic Tour, for example. With this tour, participants discover the region by bicycle, motorcycle or car. The Picnic Tour can currently be booked in the region of Hoorn, Den Helder, Langedijk, Medemblik and Enkhuizen. We start at one of the cooperating catering establishments with a drink and a piece of cake. The route description and the picnic package will also be handed over at this location. The route can be done at your own pace and the picnic package consists of an extensive lunch with local delicacies.
We are very satisfied with these great packages and tours that we have created for the province of Noord-Holland and are looking forward to the happy faces of the people.
